SMS code not arriving: what to check

Updated Oct 2, 2026

Most missing codes have one of a few causes, and most can be fixed in a minute. Go through these in order.

1. The number was entered differently

Choose the same country in the app as the number's country, then type the rest of the number without the country code. An extra 0 or a missing digit sends the code to someone else.

2. The app sent it somewhere else

Some apps don't use SMS first. Telegram sends the code to your other open sessions, and some apps offer a phone call or an email instead. Look for a link like "Send code by SMS" and use it.

3. You asked too many times

Asking for a new code every few seconds can make the app stop sending for a while. Ask once, wait at least a minute, and only then ask again.

4. The app refused the number

Some apps silently skip numbers they don't like: VoIP numbers, numbers from some countries, or numbers already used on that app. A real SIM number from another country often works.

On kartesim, a missing code costs nothing

You pay only for a code that arrives. If nothing comes, cancel the order or let it expire, and the full price goes back to your wallet. Then pick another country or service and try again.
