Morocco virtual number for SMS codes

Updated Oct 11, 2026

People who search for a Morocco virtual number, or "numéro virtuel Maroc", want one of two different things. This guide explains both, and what you get when you buy a Moroccan number on kartesim.

What a Moroccan number looks like

Morocco's country code is +212. Mobile numbers continue with a 6 or a 7, and have nine digits after the country code.

Inside Morocco the same number is written with a leading 0, as in 06 or 07. From abroad, and in apps, the 0 is dropped. Typing both +212 and the 0 is the most common mistake, and the code then goes nowhere.

  • International format: +212 6XX XXX XXX or +212 7XX XXX XXX.
  • Local format: 06XX XXX XXX or 07XX XXX XXX.
  • In an app: choose Morocco (+212), then type the nine digits without the leading 0.

Two meanings of "virtual number"

The first meaning is a business line. A company rents a Moroccan number by the month, and calls to it are forwarded to an office or a call centre somewhere else. It is made for voice calls and for looking local to customers.

The second meaning is a number you use once, to receive one SMS code and open or confirm an account. You don't rent it by the month and you don't make calls with it. This is what kartesim sells.

If you need a line that customers can call, a one-time SMS number is the wrong product. Look for a business telephony service.

What kartesim's Moroccan numbers are

They are prepaid SIM cards on Moroccan mobile networks, sitting in modems in Morocco. Nothing about them is virtual except the way you reach them: the SMS lands on a real SIM card and its text is shown on your kartesim page.

To an app, such a number looks like any local subscriber. It is not a VoIP line, which is the type of number many apps refuse for sign-up codes.

What they are good for

A Moroccan number is useful when an app asks for a phone number and you don't want to give your own, or don't have a Moroccan SIM card at hand.

  • Opening an account on a messaging or social app without your personal number.
  • A service that asks for a local +212 number at sign-up.
  • Living abroad and needing a +212 number for one sign-up.

The limits

Know these before you buy, so the number matches what you need.

  • SMS only. The numbers don't receive calls, so a code read out in a voice call won't reach you.
  • One activation of one service. The number is not yours afterwards and you can't keep it by the month.
  • Some apps send fewer SMS to Morocco than to other countries, so a code is never certain.
  • Not for banking, or for any account you must recover by phone later.

How buying one works

Top up your wallet, from $3. Pick the service and Morocco, and press Buy. Enter the number in the app with +212 and without the leading 0, and ask for the code by SMS. It appears on the kartesim page within seconds of the app sending it.

The list of Moroccan numbers shows what is online right now. Stock changes during the day as SIM cards are used and replaced. Once one of our SIM cards has delivered a code for a service, it is not offered for that service again.

If no code comes

We don't promise that an app will send a code to a given number. That is the app's decision, and it differs from one service to another.

You pay only for a code that arrives. If nothing comes, cancel the order or let it expire, and the full price returns to your wallet automatically. Then try another number, or another country if the app allows it.
